About Paul

As a student at Kent State University in 1970, Paul Tople witnessed and photographed the events surrounding the shooting of four students the Ohio National Guard during anti-war protests against the Vietnam War.

Paul moved on from his experiences at Kent State to a career in photojournalism at The Akron Beacon Journal.

In 2000, Paul went back to his archives for the first time since that tragic day in the spring of 1970. He looked at and edited all his images from the tragedy at Kent State.
